HIGHLIGHTS: According to a new study, the average person spends $406 a month on work-related expenses. That's $4,872-a-year . . . or about 10% of the average American salary. The biggest chunk goes toward commuting, but you're also spending on lunch, coffee, gifts, clothes, and buying cookies and candy from your coworkers' kids.
Bad news, "SkyMall". According to a report in the "Wall Street Journal", the FAA is going to lift the ban on using your electronics when a plane is taking off and landing. Because it turns out our gadgets DON'T mess up the plane after all.
You still won't be allowed to use cell phones, unless they're in airplane mode. The ban will probably end sometime in September or October.
HIGHLIGHTS: On Friday, the Food Network FIRED PAULA DEEN after it became public that she admitted during a court deposition that she's used the N-word. Earlier in the day, Paula backed out of an appearance on the "Today Show" and issued two bizarre apology videos that didn't do her public image any favors.
HIGHLIGHTS: Last week in France, a 53-year-old professional snake handler was doing a show about curing people's fear of snakes. And it's safe to say he FAILED. During the show, one of his vipers ATTACKED him . . . and he died on the spot from the venom.
HIGHLIGHTS: Don't ask GLORIANA'S TOM GOSSIN about his recent bachelor party, because he claims it was all a blur to him. He says, quote, "I remember going there. I remember coming back. I remember it being really fun." The one thing that Tom DOES remember is that there were no strippers.
JO DEE MESSINA'S Kickstarter campaign to fund her new album was a success. Her 30-day deadline to raise $100,000 was yesterday and she passed that with money to spare. As of last night she had over $120,000.
She now has enough cash to cover studio time, musicians, engineers, mixing . . . and all the other extras.
By the way, Jo Dee says she did have other options. She just wanted to do her own thing without record company suits sticking their nose into every part of the process.
Have a great day!
