I HAD to read this when I saw the headline for it....air freshners that smell like Disneyland!! :)
Can't get enough of Disney World? Come August, you'll be able to buy park-themed air fresheners on your way out of Orlando. We were hoping they'd smell like rides ("Musty Pirate," anyone?) but the four scents are instead based on favorite theme-park foods, like candy apples, "premium ice cream bar," and Mickey waffles. Perhaps most intriguing of all, though, is the turkey-leg scent, reminiscent of those bizarre snacks seen throughout the parks. If nothing else, we bet it will make your pets absolutely insane.
Now I noticed on our last visit there last year that the park is CLEAN. I mean there are people in all parts with brooms ready to sweep away whatever it is you may have just dropped...and given all the people in the park, its a good thing they have this. So really, its not like the park smells of bad things....but like the foody-goodness of the smells they have listed.
But it did get me to thinking.....smells are linked to memories. And those can be good....or bad....depending. And no two people will have the same smell and same memory. So I guess my idea to expand on these memory filled air freshners won't really be such a hit.
Like....camping. I am not a fan. Why?? Because the smell of pouring down rain....makes me think of camping. it always managed to rain when we camped. Altho rain does smell nice...but it brings to mind camping.
How can I say this nicely......ok, you know the smell that HITS you when you walk into the cow barn at the fair??? THAT smell reminds me of home. Not mine currently....but growing up. We had cows and pigs and horses and chickens...so that smell, welll to me....its home. :) (( one of thoes memories thats probably not a shared one huh?? ))
THe smell of burning toast?? My Moms cooking. Yep. She not only could burn a piece of toast, but the smoke detector used to go off at dinner time so often we called it the dinner bell. Actually, it was later un-plugged...not safe, but neither were our dinners I think!!! :) (( sorry Mom!))
ANd finally....basement musty. You know that certain smell that basements have....well, older home basments have? That reminds me of my grandmothers home....because we would stay there for a week in the summer time...and we stayed in the basement. So I smell that and think back to her home and those weeks at her house. Which is a good memory....and also makes me think of her brownies that she used to make too!!! :) Yeah, a better smell too!!!!
